The partnership of the international project Nature’s Mathematics, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union (project number: 2021-1-TR01-KA210-SCH-000031471) is pleased to announce that the first project output is now online: the Booklet “Mathematics in Early Childhood Education and Environmental Education Activity Plan and Good Practices Examples“.   

The Booklet consists of five different learning modules collecting good practices and exercises carried out with pupils by the partners. Each module consists of different activities enriched by the different cultures of the organizations involved. This manual aims to support educational institutions and their teaching staff in teaching environmental issues and mathematics to preschool children. Each module addresses a different topic by combining mathematical elements with teaching care for the environment around us: 

  • Module 1: Recognizing the Environment with Mathematics 
  • Module 2: Ranking and Weather-Related Events 
  • Module 3: Graphics and Water-Related Activities 
  • Module 4: Event Sequence and Earth-related Events 
  • Module 5: Environmental Issues, Recycling, Environmental Sustainability and Problem Solving 

There are also interesting teacher evaluations of the activities described and developed with the children. 

The Booklet was co-developed by the project partners: Mustafa Sabiha Göldelioğlu Anaokulu School partner from Turkey, Graditina cu programma prelungit nr.6 School partner from Romania, Detska gradina N 8 “Yuriy Gagarin” School partner from Bulgaria, Accademia IRSEI from Italy in cooperation with La Piccola Casa nel Bosco, APS Naturalmente.
